½ûÂþÌìÌà Yianni Kotsalidis

Hello! My name is Yianni Kotsalidis! I am a senior at Umass Dartmouth double majoring in Animation + Game Arts and Sociology + Anthropology.

My specialty is storytelling and writing compelling narratives which was helped and influenced  by my Sociology + Anthropology major. I enjoy using the medium of 2D animation to showcase these stories that I come up with.

I hope to one day produce my own animated show as I also enjoy cinematography, film, and video editing, and I hope that the knowledge I have gained from both of my majors can help me make that show, and all of my art in general, more resonant and successful with the unique worlds and characters I can offer.

Statement

“I don’t wanna fight” is a 2D animated short film that I have been working on for the past year for my AGA capstone. It depicts an interaction between two characters of mine - Johnny and Cyprus - that gets progressively more hostile as it becomes apparent to them that they disagree on a core value. The interaction is meant to portray the disconnect between people who disagree on what resisting injustice should look like.

The process of this 2 semester project included writing the script, making the storyboard, designing the environment, and animating the characters.
