The Leduc Center for Civic Engagement event will focus on building community during the pandemic

On February 26, the 禁漫天堂 Leduc Center for Civic Engagement presents the 2021 UMassD Engaged Scholarship Symposium. The noon event will be .

This year鈥檚 Symposium will feature a Keynote Address from Associate Professor Erin Bromage (Biology) who is an international expert on COVID-19 and infectious diseases. Bromage, who regularly appears on CNN鈥檚 nightly news shows as a CNN Contributor, rose to prominence after a blog to help family and friends prepare for COVID-19 went viral because of the accessible way it explained the pandemic.

Bromage鈥檚 Keynote 鈥淗ow the Study of Animals, Disease, and Scientific Communication Led to Safety in Schools, Courtrooms, and Movies鈥 will discuss how his background in the epidemiology of, and immunity to, infectious disease in animals led to his current work advising organizations including Hollywood studios on how to operate safely during the pandemic.

The Engaged Scholarship Symposium is designed to celebrate the impact of scholarship on shaping policy and enriching communities. Participants will be exposed to strategies for involving students in active research and examples of engaged scholarship across many disciplines.

  • 鈥淗elping Interns Grow Their Emotional Intelligence鈥 by Senior Lecturer Michael P. Griffin (Accounting & Finance) and Allison Griffin Dimond, Senior Tax Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers
  • 鈥淧rocessing Place Through Partnerships and Exhibitions鈥 by Full Time Lecturer Rebecca Uchill (Art Education, Art History & Media Studies)
