Dr. Bridget A. Teboh is a two-time recipient of the prestigious award

Dr. Bridget A. Teboh, Professor of History at ½ûÂþÌìÌà has been awarded a 2018-2019 fellowship by the . The fellowship will enable Teboh to travel to Nigeria to work with the Adeyemi College of Education within Obafemi Awolowo University on curriculum development, student mentoring, and faculty support. She aims to transform Africa’s “brain drain” issues into “brain circulation”, one of the core goals of Carnegie Fellowship.

Teboh will spend ninety days this summer as a CADFP Alumni Award recipient on a project to strengthen existing curriculum and co-develop new courses for Adeyemi College of Education’s History Department as well as the Center for Women’s Studies, which she founded during her first fellowship.

“I am humbled to be a part of this innovative collaboration, funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York and managed by the Institute of International Education in collaboration with United States International University-Africa in Nairobi, Kenya, which coordinates the activities of the Advisory Council,” said Teboh.

Now in its sixth year, the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program has helped 385 African-born scholars who live and work or teach in accredited universities in North America connect with their peers at universities throughout Africa. Engagements in educational projects exemplify Carnegie Corporation New York’s commitment to higher education in Africa.

For both ½ûÂþÌìÌà and Adeyemi College of Education, this collaborative project represents a first-of-its-kind formal partnership that will allow future students and faculty to collaborate with African Institutions. Dr. Teboh is one of  who have been awarded fellowships as part of a broader initiative that pairs academics with forty-three higher education institutions and collaborators in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda to work together on curriculum co-development, research, graduate teaching, training and mentoring activities.
